April 2-8, 2012 - First Take Film Festival Takes Action During Masters Tournament Week
The First Take Film Festival (FTFF) pays homage to the indie film festivals of the 1980s and early 1990s, where truly independent filmmakers and artists went to premiere their works of art.
FTFF aims to stand out in the Festival circuit by bringing edgy, against-the-grain, and controversial films to a Southern audience that would otherwise have very limited exposure to independent films. It will, therefore, provide a true platform for up-and-coming artists.
Held at the same time as the legendary Masters Golf Tournament, FTFF grants its filmmakers access to a world class audience: Augusta becomes center stage for one week, where many of the world’s notable athletes, celebrities, and attendees converge. The Festival taps into this wealth of industry leaders and tastemakers already visiting the area. FTFF’s screening schedule is even set up so that golf fans can attend the tournament and still have time to enjoy the Festival.
Mission and Objective
The mission of the First Take Film Festival is to feature the best in independent and innovated films while giving opportunities to professional, first-time, and student filmmakers who also share the dream of uniting the independent spirit with the prominent filmmaking industry of today.
More About the Festival
Films will be screened at The Imperial. This historic venue has hosted legendary artists, including James Brown, who is originally from Augusta. Add to the mix a bustling artistic community located in the city of Atlanta, a mere two hour drive away, and the ingredients make this a one-of a kind endeavor.
